Retro Sailing - Sounds of the Sea - Sunshine and Salt Air - 3 Sea-Themed Cards

This is a long post with three cards, all in different styles
but revolving around an
Ocean, Sea or Sailing Theme.

All in all I'm ready for a vacation after making these.
And more to come, because I can't just leave all these themed scraps lying around,
can I?  But it's just in time, really.
Father's day is just around the corner.
Summer is nearly here,
and National Maritime Day is this Sunday.

So sit back and if you make it to the end of this voyage,
you are truly awesome.

RETRO SAILING

I won't lie.  I had a blast on the bow.
And the compass-rose Wooden Spool was PERFECT.

Here are the challenges for this card:

Mojo Monday #448:
#MOJO448

Make my Monday: Let's Sail Away!

Tuesday Throwdown #294: Embossing (Wet or Dry)
I used an inked embossing technique

Crafting for All Seasons #126: Add Embossing

Shopping our Stash #252: Sounds of the Sea

Fab n' Funky #305: No Designer Papers

Crafty Creations #315: Monochromatic
One of my favorite themes.  It helps one concentrate in a wonderful way :)
I was also thrilled to be the winner of the last challenge, #314.
Thank you Jaime et al!

MooMania: Water
J entered this challenge earlier--we made our cards together.
You can see his Comets at the Beach card HERE. :)

Deep Ocean Challenge #129: Shabby chic or Vintage

Crafty Cardmakers #164: Stitching

The graphic I've used for this card comes from
The Graphics Fairy:

Materials Used on this Card:
Cardstock {Papertrey Ink}
 Dye Ink {Blueberry sky - Papertrey Ink}
Embossing folder {Acanthus - Anna Griffin}
Burlap ribbon, cream grosgrain {Ribbon Boutique, Offray}
Wooden spool {Spare Parts by The Paper Studio}
Deckle Edge Ruler {Westcott}
Small clothespin, cotton twine, wooden buttons {Stash}

SOUNDS OF THE SEA

This one is a lot lighter in mood and colors.
Fresh and breezy, yes?  That's what I hoped for.
Rope hammocks are only like my favorite way to relax.
I finally got one this summer.

Making the decision to use the acetate as the card BASE
was a tricky one, but I like how it turned out.
I took extra care to make sure my polkas match up front and back when
it's folded flat, though.  Just in case the future recipient is OCD
about things like that....not that I am.....

This is a lovely stamp from Flourishes, which sadly closed their online doors
a number of years ago.  But their images are wonderful and the photopolymer
has held up remarkably well.  Not hardened, yellowed, anything.
The set is A Day at the Beach.

SUNSHINE AND SALT AIR

The sentiment reads,

"Live in the Sunshine
Swim in the Sea
Drink the Wild Air"

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Advice I'll gladly take from an author I'll always gladly read.

The inspiration for this layout came from:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #352:

And also:

(3rd and final entry - Shabby Chic this time.  Or maybe Sandy Chic ;)
At any rate, this time I went for the feeling of sunshine rather than the color.
